The Phantom Moons of Zalonia

The Phantom Moons of Zalonia

Phantom moons sometimes appear in the sky. They often only appear above lands to signify something. For example, if a green moon appears, it often symbolizes sickness and disease. This could be various types of plagues. It might not refer to regular sickness, but to people losing their minds and going insane. In some places, people are forbidden to go outside if there is a green moon, so it doesn’t spread diseases. In other areas, they don’t understand what the green moon means, but they become afraid because it is something they have never seen before. An example of the green moon would be when there are too many volcanoes erupting in an area, and people get sick from the aftermath.

The silver moon appears before a famine in order to prepare those who will have to deal with the famine. Some places might do an early harvest just to prepare for a possible famine. There are times people can prevent a famine with this warning, but they have to take the warning seriously.

Green Moon – Disease

Green Phantom Moon of Zalonia

When the green moon appears over a certain place, it is a symbol that a plague is about to be released or has already been released. It warns that people should stay inside so the sickness doesn’t spread as easily.

Violet Moon — Good Omen

Violet Phantom Moon

The violet moon symbolizes blessing, destiny, and protection. It appears above heroes, rulers, or chosen individuals, especially during birth. If a mother sees a purple moon while her baby is being born she can be assured that her child will be great in some way. This moon only appears to the lower or middle class, but not the higher class because most people born into the higher class will remain there. It also means that crops will grow faster and morale rises. It symbolizes that the gods are watching.

Black Moon — Death Approaching

Black Phantom Moon

The black moon can be hard to see when it appears because it appears like a black hole would appear, but because it is nearer to the planet, it is seen as a circle that blocks out the stars that are behind it. It is seen before assassinations, wars, and disasters. If someone see it, it is law in most lands to point it out to the leaders of the place so they can prepare for what is coming. It doesn’t mean absolute death but more as a warning that something bad is going to happen. It can cause people to panic when they see it. It also sclipses all other moons as it is the closest to Aztharian.

Amber Moon of Zalonia

Amber Moon — Betrayal

The amber moon symbolizes treachery, deception, and hidden agendas. It is often seen near courts, councils, or negotiations. For example, if it appears when two kings are making an agreement, they will suspect that the other will break the treaty. I could mean that there will be an assassination attempt on the king. Kings who see these moons strengthen their security just in case. However, their security can’t always be trusted. To the average person, it means that they are around a person or people who are deceptive. This moon can cause people to become paranoid.

White Moon — Birth of Something New

White Moon of Zalonia

This moon appears when there will be birth, renewal, and beginnings. This is often seen after a place has become war-torn. It means that the war-torn area should be repaired instead of abandoned. Some magicians acknowledge this moon if they want to gain a new ability. It could mean a change in social status. People who see this moon generally don’t tell others about it because they could interfere with the outcome. It also appears before revolutions or new areas. It is often a moon that brings hope. It’s not seen very often, but when it is seen, the person seeing it generally gets excited.

Rose Moon — Magic Disturbance

Rose Moon of Zalonia

The rose moon (different from the usual red moon) usually appears when magic is out of balance. Perhaps a wizard used too much magic. This can cause ripples in the magical atmosphere of Zalonia and cause other magicians to misfire their own magic. There also could be someone or even multiple people who are tampering with forbidden magic that can cause spells to misfire. Most magicians who see the rose moon withhold from using magic because they don’t want something to go wrong. It also often precedes magical disasters or breakthroughs

Teal Moon — Love

Teal Moon of Zalonia

The teal moon is the moon of love. It is lighter than Cadrone and appears much closer to the planet. It will often show when two romantic partners are out and enjoying the night sky. It is a good omen for lovers who do see it. When it is not seen, the couple may come to question their relationship decisions. If they go out for a romantic evening but don’t see the teal moon, they will like break up before they get too attached. However, some people ignore the teal moon because they have become obsessed with the person they love.

The Moons of Zalonia

Ishtorth

Red Moon

This is Cadrone’s opposite, as it symbolizes good fortune. It also appears different to different people. It appears about two-thirds the size of our regular moon. It is the closest moon to the planet and revolves around the planet every 19th day. It would be like almost seeing Mars close to our planet. Magic is often performed when it is half full. Magic can’t be accessed when it is a new moon, and magic during a full moon is very potent and difficult to control unless the blue moon (Cadrone) is also full. Magical purposes:

Day One – New – No Magic is performed
Day Two – Good for healing magic
Day Three – Good for protection
Day Four – Good to gain psychic abilities
Day Five – Good for prophetic dreams
Day Six – Good for overall health
Day Seven – Good for herbal magic
Day Eight – Good for candle magic
Day Nine – Good for making potions
Day Ten – Full – Ask for the heart’s desire
Day Eleven – Good for ending addictions
Day Twelve – Good for weight loss
Day Thirteen – Good for breaking curses
Day Fourteen – Good for cleansing negativity
Day Fifteen – Good for getting over a past relationship
Day Sixteen – Good for picking out who your untrue friends are
Day Seventeen – Good for willing storms away
Day Eighteen – Good for blinding an attacking enemy
Day Nineteen – Good for creativity

The Goddess that represents this moon is named Ishtoria

Cadrone

Blue Moon

Cadrone represents darkness. It can change with each individual person, but this doesn’t happen often unless the person is on a quest; it is shown as a warning. A person who sees it weak or not at all will have good fortune, and bad fortune if it shines bright. However, it’s much more complicated than just that. It appears about half the size of our moon in the sky and is normally relatively faint unless it is telling someone that they are going to have bad fortune. Unlike Ishtorth, the days don’t represent what kind of magic is beneficial, but the stronger it is in the sky, the more magicians can use unethical magic. Some people form battle plans based on this moon. If it is full and shining, they will not imvade another territory. Many people are more cautious about securing their homes, and those out on a quest prepare for the worst.

The name of the God for this moon is Cadronus, and is often acknowledged by those who create unethical spells.

The Golden Moon

The moon is different from Ishtorth and is a lot like the moon going around the Earth. When it comes to orbits, it is further from the Earth than Ishtorth and closer than Cadrone. This moon is often used in astrology and other types of magic that are used to guide people. It doesn’t symbolize good or bad magic. However, it does contain some species of life, such as plants and alien animals. There is nothing that is as smart as the Seven Species of Spoken Language in Zalonia on the moon. Medes have made unsuccessful machines to be able to explore the moon closer, but they have telescopes, and their eyes are seven times stronger than a human’s, so they are able to explore the moon with more precision than any other race.

Planets of Zalonia

Latrina (1st Planet)

It is similar in size to Aztharian, but is too hot for life as it is the closest planet to the sun. However, there might be heat-resistant beings on it, but no one is certain. Once in a while, the planet can cause a small eclipse, but not as thick as a lunar eclipse. The surface can reach 300 degrees F, but it rotates more slowly than Aztharian, and the side facing away from the sun can get down to about 50 degrees. Most of the planet is covered by an unknown light green liquid.

It represents both romantic and sensual love, creativity, artistry, and self-expression. It rules beauty and pleasure, arts and crafts, all of the sweet things of life. It is particularly associated with sexuality, but like the Maiden, her most essential quality is strength of self.

In negative terms, Latrina is associated with selfishness, greed, and indulgence. Negative Latrina thinks of herself first, and others second, if at all. Over-indulgence of all sorts, but especially sexual, is associated with Negative Latrina, as well as a conspicuous lack of concern over consequences.

Symbology – The hieroglyph for Latrina is the Sphere of the Conscious Self over the Cross of Matter; that is to say, the conscious self-expressing itself in the physical, with little reference to the Higher Self.

Aztharian – World (2nd Planet)

Aztharian is the world where Zalonia exists. Think of it as an alternate world that’s roughly the same size as Earth and follows similar rules of physics, especially gravity. However, the continents and landmasses are arranged differently. Most of the stories happen on the large landmass of Zalonia, but there are other big landmasses on Azatharian with lots of mysterious things, creatures, and more.

People have lived on Azatharian for a really long time. The folks in Zalonia can trace their roots back to close to the beginning of the First Age when they were created. But there are whispers about a Lost Age that might go even further back. On those other landmasses, there are beings that might have been around since that rumored Lost Age.

Now, some ancient stories, especially those from a few mede historians, talk about the Prophet of Old and their descendants in a place called Ruinoneo before it was cursed. Legends say that this Prophet might have been the one who made medes, humans, and the legendary stiminites. But remember, these are really old legends, and a lot of time has passed. There’s some evidence that hints at these ideas, but it’s all a bit of a mystery now.

There’s something unique about its night sky. Instead of regular stars, they have these magical constellations known as the “9 constellations.” These constellations are made up of objects with very little gravitational pull. They might look like stars or planets to the naked eye, but they’re different. They don’t twinkle like our stars; instead, they move across the sky like stars, which could be quite puzzling for someone from Earth who notices these differences.

It has 3 primary moons, which can cause various kinds of tides. There is only one star in the solar system similar to our sun.

Populations exist where food, water, warmth, and shelter

World Population
Humans – 13 million
Medes – 950,000
Elves before destruction – 3 million – There is one elven territory not found in Zalonia
Woodland Elves – 100,000 – They are only in Zalonia
Frolm – 500,000 before the shadow thieves and about 2,500 after – All in Zalonia
Rokars – 9 million
Sxiox – 2 million

Alien Satellite (3rd Planet) – Onog

Onog is a satellite that is near Aztharian. It is used as a base for technology and weapons to spy and try to influence things on Aztharian. There is a wormhole on the side that faces away from Aztharian that leads to the aliens’ (Gnonows) home planet. It is a very compact satellite, but small and further away than the blue moon. To the human eye, it looks like a faint planet. The medes can see it better, but they can’t see the aliens themselves. The aliens also use a force field that the medes can’t see through. This is the satellite they used when they fought in the Great Battle of the Fourth Age. Some believe this is the furthest planet away because of its small size, but it is relatively close to Aztharian.

Gas Giant (4rd Planet) – Anohpmi

This is a further out planet, a little bigger than Jupiter, that works as a shield to destructive materials such as comets and asteroids. Seen up close, it looks like a beautiful planet and has several moons. There are said to be over a hundred moons. It has various colors such as red, yellow, blue, brown, and so on. It is an impossible planet to survive on because of the gravity, but the moons could possibly hold life. It is the biggest object in the night sky besides the moons revolving around Aztharian. Its diameter is thirteen times as long as Aztharian. It takes about 8.6 years to orbit the sun. It is often associated with wisdom.

It is a symbol of wisdom according to the medes. When it is seen in the sky, the medes study a little harder because they believe they will gain knowledge more clearly when it is visible. It is a gas giant with hundreds of moons revolving around it.

There are several spots on Anohpmi which the medes believe are dangerous storms, but they are uncertain. The spots seem to move around on the planet and increase and decrease in size at a slow rate. Its magnetic atmosphere is so strong that it can crush virtually everything that comes through it.

Anohpmi has many moons, and it is possible that they have life, especially the moons with water on them. Between their strong eyesight and telescopes, the medes can’t see the moons well enough to see actual other beings on the moon, but there seem to be enormous structures that appear to have been built by intelligent life.

Gas Giant (5th Planet) – Itenasa

This is the furthest planet away from the sun. It is about half the size of Aztharian. The planet appears blueish green due to its methane gases. There is rumored to be life on this planet among the Zalonians, but that’s only been in legends. Not much is known about this planet, and even the Gnonows have never explored it or looked at it closely. It holds about 20 moons, some fully made out of ice. It is also believed to be a portal somewhere in Zalonia that can reach this planet, or at least near it. This planet also has rings like Saturn.

It is often associated with chaos and uncertainty among the Quintum. The Quintum will never point their ships toward Itenasa because they believe this will lead them to chaotic situations at sea, such as large storms and whirlpools.

Wormholes in Zalonia

Wormholes are an important concept because they connect our world with the universe that the world Azthanian is part of. Apparently, they can only be held open by exotic matter. The Soul Chaser is the only one capable of creating a wormhole to our realm. There are alien races that can create wormholes to Zalonia, but not to Earth. Wormholes happen when two sheets of spacetime are joined together. A wormhole closes because of gravity, so there would be a need for “negative energy” to hold them open. Negative energy is behind the acceleration of the universe’s expansion. Some believe they may exist at the center of very bright galaxies. Matter coming out of one side of the wormhole would collide with matter going in, and this would cause a spectacular display of gamma rays.

Unlike a black hole, a wormhole would leak some of the gravity from the other side. There are weird “odd radio circles” in the sky. Some believe that black holes are a type of wormhole that leads to a white hole.

Exotic matter does not behave like gases, liquids, or solids. Extremely cold helium is one example of exotic matter. It is called superfluid helium, which is a liquid that can climb walls. It might be a key ingredient in making wormholes. Exotic matter that could be related to wormholes is matter with negative mass. Matter with negative mass would push other matter away from it. ‘

In Zalonia, there is an alien race known as the gnonows. They have a base on one of the satellites that float around the planet of Aztharian. In the back of this satellite, there is a wormhole that is consistently open, which allows the Gnonows to return to their home planet at will.

There are sometimes wormholes that open for other alien species, but they don’t stay open for long. They are usually made because the alien was experimenting around. They have to leave quickly because the wormhole won’t last long. There have been some aliens who have gotten trapped in Zalonia for not returning to the wormhole in time.

White Holes of Zalonia

White holes are sometimes seen by the inhabitants of Zalonia. They appear as sudden explosions, and the medes don’t really understand them much. There is a science to it, though:

There are white holes found in space that create explosions and disappear immediately, kind of the opposite of black holes. From afar, White Holes look exactly like black holes. It is like a time reversal from a black hole. It is impossible to enter a white hole. Objects from a white hole can interact with objects on the outside, but nothing can interfere with the white hole. Only the Soul Chaser knows what they are. There is a theory that black holes turn into white holes when they die. This may happen when the black hole gets so small that it no longer obeys the common-sense rules of stars and billiard balls. Quantum randomness takes over and transforms the black hole into a white hole. Some think the white hole might explain the Big Bang.

There is also a theory that white holes are on the opposite side of a black hole. In other words, when something is sucked into a black hole, it explodes out from a white hole in a different part of the universe, or a parallel universe.

White holes could experience a belch. It is described as a black hole’s “time reversal,” a video of a black hole played backwards. Nothing can enter a white hole. Things can leave the white hole, but because nothing can get in, the interior is cut off from the universe’s past: No outside event will ever affect the inside. It would be like a singularity in the past that can affect everything in the outside. In a black hole, the outside universe can influence the inside of a black hole’s horizon, but the interior can’t affect the exterior. No one knows how a white hole might form. Playing a video backwards of a black hole doesn’t make physical sense.

If white holes did form, they probably wouldn’t exist for long. Any outgoing matter would collide with the matter in orbit, and the system would collapse into a black hole.

There is a question of what happens to the internal record when a black hole evaporates away? General relativity won’t let the information out, and quantum mechanics forbids its deletion.

Some think that a white hole is the death of a black hole, but that would violate the general relativity equations. Maybe the black hole grows so small that it no longer obeys the common-sense rules of stars and billiard balls. Quantum randomness takes over, and the black hole transforms into a white hole.

A while hole, similar to a mass to a human hair, wouldn’t have the gravitation of a black hole but would hold all the information swallowed in a previous life. Too small to attract orbiting matter, the white hole might remain stable enough to eventually spit out all the information accumulated by its forerunner. This means that white holes could dominate the universe one day.

The Big Bang’s explosion of matter and energy looks like potential white hole behavior. They are even mathematically identical at times.

White holes appear in the theory of eternal black holes. There are no observed physical processes through which a white hole could be formed. Supermassive black holes might be at the center of all galaxies, and Hawking and others have proposed that these supermassive black holes spawn a supermassive white hole. Hawking argued that the time reversal of a black hole in thermal equilibrium results in a white hole in thermal equilibrium (each absorbing and emitting energy to equivalent degrees).

White holes are predicted as part of a solution to the Einstein field equations known as the maximally extended version of the Schwarzschild metric, describing an eternal black hole with no charge and no rotation. Here, “maximally extended” refers to the idea that the spacetime should not have any “edges” for any possible trajectory of a free-falling particle (following a geodesic) in the space time, it should be possible to continue this path arbitrarily far into the particle’s future, unless the trajectory hits a gravitational singularity like the one at the center of the black hole’s interior. In order to satisfy this requirement, it turns out that in addition to the black hole interior region that particles enter when they fall through the event horizon from the outside, there must be a separate white hole interior region, which allows us to extrapolate the trajectories of particles that an outside observer sees rising up away from the event horizon. The Einstein-Rosen bridge can either connect two black hole event horizons in each universe (with points in the interior of the bridge being part of the black hole region of the spacetime) or two white hole event horizons in each universe (with points in the interior of the bridge being part of the white hole region). It is impossible to enter the bridge, though.

Here is a little for you science nerds:

Some researchers have proposed that when a black hole forms, a Big Bang may occur at the core/singularity, which would create a new universe that expands outside of the parent universe (Fecund universes).

A 2012 paper argues that the Big Bang itself is a white hole. It further suggests that the emergence of a white hole, which was named a “Small Bang”, is spontaneous—all the matter is ejected at a single pulse.
In 2014, the idea of the Big Bang being produced by a supermassive white hole explosion was explored in the framework of a five-dimensional vacuum by Madriz Aguilar, Moreno and Bellini

For white holes to exist, there can’t be a single speck of matter within the event horizon.

Loop quantum gravity

In theory, a black hole singularity would compress down until the smallest possible size predicted by physics. Then it would rebound as a white hole. But because of the severe time dilation effect around a black hole, this event would take billions of years for even the lowest mass ones to finally get around to popping.

WHAT WHITE HOLES ARE IN ZALONIA

  • White holes don’t just release matter…
  • They release possibilities, timelines, and broken pieces of reality

WHAT THEY ACTUALLY DO

1. Reality Spill Points

Effect:

White holes eject things that don’t belong

  • creatures from unknown realms
  • fragments of other timelines
  • objects that shouldn’t exist

2. Time Fracturing Zones

Effect:

Time becomes unstable near a white hole

  • moments repeat
  • people experience future memories
  • time speeds up or slows down

Danger:

Someone could:

  • age rapidly
  • relive the same moment endlessly

3. Memory and Identity Distortion

Effect:

White holes don’t just affect reality—they affect minds

  • people remember things that never happened
  • identities begin to blur
  • someone might “remember” another life

Creepy angle:

Two people might remember being the same person

4. Raw Magic Eruption

Effect:

White holes flood the world with unfiltered magic

  • spells become wildly powerful
  • magic mutates unpredictably

Danger:

  • magic users lose control
  • spells gain unintended effects

 5. World Alteration Events

Effect:

Land itself changes

  • forests grow overnight
  • mountains crack open
  • new ecosystems appear

👉 reality is rewritten locally

 6. “Observers” Are Drawn to Them

Effect:

White holes attract:

  • powerful beings
  • unknown watchers
  • possibly your gnonows

Lore idea:

Some entities don’t want the white holes to stay open

THE BIG RULE

White holes are unstable—and eventually collapse.

When They Collapse:

  • everything they released becomes unstable
  • creatures may vanish
  • people may disappear
  • entire areas may reset or distort

RARE EVENT: WHITE HOLE STORM

Multiple white holes appear at once:

  • reality breaks across regions
  • time fractures everywhere
  • magic becomes uncontrollable

This could be a major series-level event
