Welcome to speculative fiction author Nate Foy’s website. Embarking on journeys beyond the ordinary, Nate Foy is a speculative fiction author hailing from Watertown, NY. With a boundless imagination and a penchant for weaving intricate tales, Nate transports readers to otherworldly realms where magic and reality intertwine.
Nate Foy, aka Midnight Owl, was born December 13th, 1976. At age five, he began piano lessons; however, he didn’t focus on them that much at the time. He was eleven when he started writing fiction stories but never got anywhere with them.
When he was thirteen, he got his first guitar for Christmas. He started taking lessons at the age of fourteen and learned songs by bands like Judas Priest and Nirvana. When he was fifteen, he was asked to join his first band, but he was too shy, so that didn’t work out. At the age of sixteen, he started writing lyrics for songs. He had put writing stories on the side burner at this time.
He joined his first band, Dark Outcasts when he was nineteen and played with them for almost a year. After leaving that band, he found another band he wanted to play in, but they already had two guitarists. They needed a bass player, so Nate bought a bass and joined the band with very little experience on bass. The band was called One Night Stand, and they played all covers. After about a year, One Night Stand disbanded as the band leader was going to leave for college.
During this time, Nate also went to college. At first, it was for computer science, but he switched his major to writing and started writing short stories. He eventually dropped out of college because he deemed it unnecessary when it came to writing.
In 2001, Nate got back into the band scene and first played guitar for a band called Prophecy Foretold. When that didn’t work out, he joined a Christian rock band called Retro Rocket. He played with these bands from 2002 to 2006.
In 2005, Nate’s idea for a first book was born, which would later be called “Conspiracy of Deception.” He took a break from the band scene for a while.
2012 was a big year for him. He was playing for a band called E Rosenbridge and released his first two books, “Conspiracy of Deception” and “The Experiment,” which later became known as “Prelude to Ragnarok.”
When E Rosenbridge broke up, Nate decided to continue with his writing journey, although it was difficult to find the time with college. He ended up dropping out of college and focused more on his writing once again.
“Curse of Kredaria” was originally released in 2017, which would be his first fantasy book.
In 2020, he joined a band called Pirate Plague and played bass for them. He also released a book called “A Crossing of Portals” during this time.
The band split in 2022, and Nate decided to focus more on his writing than music. However, in 2023, he was asked to join a metal band called Another Member Gone, which he still plays for to this day. He still makes time for writing.
